On the Gift I Sent to My Father On Behalf of My Sister

posted on 9 December 2010

I never really thought of using any type of delivery services before until I got an invitation in the mail from my sister that I had not heard from in over 15 years. She was inviting me to a party for our father which I had also not seen in the same amount of time. I could not bring myself to go back home, even for a visit. I decided to use one of the sameday couriers that my job uses to send him a gift at least. I'd used this company in the past to send bridal lingerie to some photo shoots I was working on, so knew they actually could deliver the same day. My thinking behind the gift was that if they thought enough to at least invite her, she might as well try and heal some wounds by sending him a gift. Letting him know I was at least thinking of him, for once I remembered him as a loving father and not the awful person she made him out to be. It takes a big man to admit he had made mistakes, but since he did, she in turn needs to also try to heal old wounds too. Maybe in time, just not this time.

How I Sell My Unique Jewelry Online

posted on 1 September 2010

I've loved making jewelry since I was very little. I wanted to start selling it for a long time before I actually opened my online shop. I had thought about eBay, but I wasn't sure if I'd be able to see anything there. About a year ago, I discovered a web site called Etsy for selling handmade items - even the cosmetic bags I make I can sell. I signed up for an account, and I'm so glad I did. It has been an awesome experience. It feels so good to be able to meet other artisans and communicate with customers. I've done several custom orders for people, and they're always happy with the results. It's a little time consuming to photograph everything I make and post items in my shop, but it has been a very rewarding experience overall. I think it's great that I can sell my jewelry online and make enough money to fund my hobby. I don't think a lot of people are able to do that.
